Joyce Glasscock, CMSM
Executive Director, MSKI
Since the summer of 1989, Main Street Keokuk, Inc. has been under the passionate and creative direction of Joyce Glasscock. Our program has benefited greatly from her expertise, her longevity and the continuity she has created for our downtown rehabilitation efforts.
Joyce took the helm of Main Street Keokuk in its infancy and has seen it survive difficult financial seasons, ridiculous weather patterns including the flood of 1993, and the day to day challenges of working with people in the heart of a classic, small town American river community. If you have the time and a bottle of good wine, oh the stories Joyce could share from her years of service.
Coming from a strong background in retail management, merchandising and non-profit organizational leadership, Glasscock draws on her professional expertise to motivate a veritable army of volunteers in creating powerful change in the historic Keokuk business district. With over 50 million private and professional dollars invested in the 16 block district, it is safe to say her effectiveness as a collaborator and coach are clearly evident.
Her greatest professional accomplishments include the creation of the Cultural and Entertainment District, the successful completion of a mixed use retail and residential rehabilitation of a historic building known as the “Eagles on Blondeau” project, becoming the recipient of the Great American Main Street Award in 2000, and earning her own credential as a national Certified Main Street Manager through the National Main Street Center in Washington, D.C.
Joyce in married to her husband Greg, is the mother of two daughters, Amber Glasscock and April de Gala and her husband Gary, and proud grandmother to A.J. and Julia de Gala.
